The Labyrinth

Amanda Claridge has spent years learning exactly what people want and building a world where they can ask for it without apology.

Behind the discreet doors of The Labyrinth, she has matched powerful clients with carefully chosen companions, protected secrets worth fortunes and watched more than one meticulously negotiated fantasy become something neither party intended. Amanda understands desire. She simply prefers managing everybody else’s.

Angelo has been the exception for five years. An investor with enough influence to be useful and enough restraint to be dangerous, he asked Amanda for something once, accepted her refusal and never asked again. Since then, their relationship has remained exactly where she prefers it: somewhere between business, friendship and an attraction both of them are far too intelligent to pretend doesn’t exist.

But when an offer to acquire The Labyrinth exposes questions buried inside the agency’s earliest history, Amanda discovers that the kingdom she believed belonged entirely to her has one final locked door. Behind it are an old investment, the first man ever called Minotaur and a decision Angelo made years ago without her permission. He insists he protected what she built. Amanda has never been interested in protection she didn’t choose.

For years, Amanda has shown everyone who enters The Labyrinth how to ask for what they want. Angelo may be the only man patient enough to wait until she is ready to do the same.

Description

Amanda Claridge is Founder and Director of The Labyrinth. Platinum pixie, red lips, immaculate control, dry humor, psychologically lethal when necessary. She created an agency where privacy and consent aren’t decoration, they’re infrastructure.

Angelo is Italian, powerful, and already conceived as a silent investor / man connected deeply enough to Amanda and The Labyrinth that their relationship has effectively been a five-year chess game. He isn’t simply another client. And whatever exists between them predates the romantic story we’re about to tell.
