The Labyrinth’s Saint

Nathan has always looked like the kind of man people want to protect.

Beautiful, impeccably mannered and blessed with a face that has inspired more than one comparison to an angel, he learned long ago how easily appearances become expectations. At The Labyrinth, Amanda Claridge turned that assumption into Saint, one of her most carefully constructed fantasies, where clients can believe whatever they like about the immaculate man waiting behind the door.

Jax doesn’t believe a word of it. A tattooed restoration architect with little patience for beautiful surfaces and even less for the stories people build around them, he chooses Saint precisely because he suspects the angelic image is nonsense. Nathan expects another man fascinated by the fantasy. Instead, Jax seems interested in stripping it away, and one appointment becomes another as Nathan discovers the uncomfortable pleasure of being wanted by someone who refuses to decide who he is before knowing him.

Their worlds collide when Jax accepts the restoration of a historic property belonging to Nathan’s estranged family, forcing Nathan back toward the carefully respectable life he walked away from years ago. But among the building’s old records is a photograph that shouldn’t matter: a much younger Amanda Claridge, standing inside Nathan’s childhood home beside a man neither of them can clearly identify.

Nathan has spent years letting other people believe they understand Saint. Jax may be the first man who has ever asked to know Nathan instead.
